Siding takes the weather every day of the year, and in this part of Nebraska that means wind driven rain in spring, heat through July and August, and freeze and thaw cycles all winter. Old siding says it is losing that fight in small ways first. Boards cup or split at the ends, paint stops holding, seams open at the corners, and the wall behind starts taking on moisture it was never meant to see. Either way the job starts by pulling the old material back far enough to see the condition of the sheathing and the house wrap underneath, because covering wet or rotted sheathing with new siding hides the problem instead of solving it. We install a proper weather barrier, flash the windows and doors correctly, and set the new siding with the right fasteners and the right expansion gaps so it moves the way it was designed to. Trim, corners and soffit are part of the job rather than an afterthought at the end of it.
